Bois de Vincennes Goes Nude

No more tan lines when sunbathing at the Bois de Vincennes.

France has been a country that’s known for it’s sexual nature. In fact, you can find some U.S. tourists get quite ruffled when it comes to the sites at many of the nude beaches.

France and Paris in particular are now adding some more nakedness to the outdoors. As part of the second largest park in the city, just behind the Bois de Boulogne, a 7,300 square meter area will now be open for nudists.

Bois de Vincennes Hours of Operation

This “nude zone” is open now until October 15 on a trial basis. It’s open form 8 am to 7:30 pm every day. The Bois de Vincennes is a beautiful park that is nearly 2,500 acres and located in the 12th arrondissement.

You can find signs that lead up to the new nude area so that any passerby will not be taken by surprise.

The Inspiration

The idea for this section of the park was pioneered by Mayor Bruno Julliard and by the deputy Mayor in charge of city parks, Penelope Komites. “The creation of an area in the Bois de Vincennes where naturism will be authorized is part of our open-minded vision for the use of Parisian public spaces,” she said.

Not one for Naturism?

If you’re not the type to visit Disneyland Paris but you want to see more of the real city and it’s locals this park and it’s new section is a great way to do that. If you’re not one for naturism the park has other things to do like, beautiful ponds, sailing and biking.

Visiting Paris is not just about wine and cheese, the landscape and rich history really bring it to life. Perhaps taking that wine and cheese into the park may make for a perfect afternoon.
