Airfare

momondo-logo cheap-flights
This could be my favorite search engine. You can see from using it that it just finds the best deals. Momondo searches for airlines and other small booking sites that other search engines don’t. This is a go-to starting point when doing a flight search.

Cheapflights is one of the most experienced travel companies in the sector. They work with over 300 trusted travel brands who send them over 4 million new flight deals each day, ensuring Cheapflights always displays the lowest prices.
Google-Flights skyscanner-logo
Google Flights is one of the best search engines out there. The great part about this is that you can enter the city of your departure and they will show you routes all over the world so you can see what’s cheapest at a glance. Skyscanner is good for getting some of those budget deals with smaller airlines you may miss on a bigger search engine. This is also a good site to compare prices with Momondo.

Accommodations

hotels-combine hotels_com
When it comes to travel resources, Hotels Combined is great search engine. This engine pulls deals from a number of different sites. These sites include Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda and many more. I understand this might be a little more mainstream but I have used this site a number of times when I was needing a last minute deal. The app is real easy to use and the mobile site works too. A few clicks and you have a hotel near you, at a great rate.
Hostelworld-Logo  Couchsurfing
If you’re looking for a hostel then this is where you want to be. Stay in a hostel and meet the real world, not the tourist brochure. Read millions of hostel reviews from fellow travelers, with hostels in 170 countries. Couchsurfing is a vibrant travel community of over 14 million locals and travelers. With this site you could stay on peoples couches or in spare rooms for free. Its a great way to meet the locals and really learn about where you are.

Travel Gear +

world-nomads
This just may be the absolute best place to grab your travel insurance from. The customer service is great, they offer competitive prices, and in-depth coverage. Their also recommended by sites like National Geographic and Lonely Planet so you know they can be trusted. NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT TRAVEL INSURANCE. With this innovative website you can get home cooked meals with the locals. It works by people posting about dinner parties or other specialty meals. There is a fee for this and each person sets their own price. This is the perfect way to do something different, while meeting someone new and local.
moosejaw man-in-seat-61
Moosejaw is a great place to get quality apparel. They have major brands like The North Face, Patagonia and more. If you’ve never shopped with them, they offer a 10% off your order discount in exchange for your email address. They do offer free shipping on orders over $35. This is the absolute best place for train travel. This site has all the information you’ll need to plan any size train trip. It offers routes, times and prices for train travel all over the world.
